Duplex thermocouples, also known as dual element thermocouples, are temperature sensors designed with two independent pairs of thermocouple wires housed within a single protective sheath. This design allows them to provide two temperature readings from one probe or offer a reliable backup in case one sensor fails.

For instance, a duplex thermocouple includes two sets of thermocouple conductors inside a single enclosure.
